Organic Social Media Manager

MILITARY RECRUITMENT ACCOUNT | REMOTE | MID-ATLANTIC PREFERRED | FULL-TIME

About LMO Advertising

LMO is an Arlington, VA agency with nearly 30 years of experience specializing in commitment-driven marketing — helping organizations turn attention into meaningful action for audiences who don't make impulse decisions. Whether the goal is military recruitment, membership growth, or mission-driven outreach, we build solutions where trust, relevance, and consistency matter.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly proactive, client-facing Organic Social Media Manager to help manage and grow the organic social media program for one of our most prestigious military recruitment accounts.

This is not a traditional role focused purely on posting content or chasing trends. The environment is operationally complex, fast-moving, and mission-driven. Success requires someone who can independently manage workflows, surface recommendations, organize ambiguity, and confidently lead day-to-day client communication with senior military and government stakeholders.

The person in this role will help operationalize a modern, AI-enabled organic social program built around:

  • operational story identification

  • audience intelligence

  • recruitment narrative activation

  • content adaptation

  • engagement monitoring

  • insight generation

  • performance optimization

This is a high-visibility role with meaningful ownership, direct client interaction, and significant opportunity for long-term growth.

This position is remote, with a Mid-Atlantic location preferred to support occasional in-person client engagement.

Core Responsibilities

Content Operations & Narrative Activation

  • Build and maintain content calendars across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms aligned to broader recruitment strategy and campaign priorities.

  • Coordinate with strategist/account leadership to translate audience insights, recruitment messaging, and narrative priorities into operational social content execution.

  • Coordinate with creative/design resources to ensure assets are organized, aligned, and ready for publishing.

  • Use AI-enabled workflows and tools to accelerate content adaptation, caption development, workflow efficiency, and reporting support.

  • Continuously test messaging angles, hooks, formats, and narrative approaches to improve engagement, audience relevance, and recruitment alignment.

  • Translate operational stories into platform-native social content and audience-relevant narratives.

 Program Management & Client Leadership

  • Independently manage the day-to-day operational flow of the organic social program.

  • Lead weekly client-facing meetings with senior military and federal stakeholders.

  • Present content plans, performance updates, recommendations, and optimization opportunities clearly and confidently.

  • Surface opportunities, concerns, trends, and operational recommendations proactively — not reactively.

  • Coordinate priorities across internal teams while maintaining strong organizational discipline and follow-through.

  • Operate effectively in a lean, remote, fast-moving agency environment with minimal micromanagement.

 Community Intelligence & Reporting

  • Monitor engagement activity, comments, DMs, and emerging conversations to identify: high-intent prospects, recurring audience questions, recruiting friction points, misinformation, escalation risks, emerging content opportunities.

  • Flag important engagement opportunities for client response and recruiter follow-up.

  • Track and analyze performance metrics across organic social platforms.

  • Deliver weekly performance snapshots and monthly reporting with clear insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Use reporting and engagement patterns to continuously improve operational execution and content effectiveness.

What Success in this Role Requires

This role requires:

  • proactive problem-solving

  • operational ownership

  • strong organizational instincts

  • independent decision-making

  • comfort working in ambiguity

  • confidence presenting to clients

  • ability to surface recommendations rather than wait for direction

  • strong communication and follow-through

  • accountability without heavy oversight

This is not an entry-level coordinator role. This is also not a purely senior strategic planning role.

The ideal candidate is likely a mid-level operator who is ambitious, highly organized, operationally strong, comfortable with clients, and excited to grow within an evolving AI-enabled communications environment.
